Counter Terrorism ops

Al-Qaeda’s Counter Intelligence Op’s

The Combating Terrorism Center at West Point has recently released a report regarding long term Egyption terrorist Muhammad Khalil al-Hakaymah. He is a long standing member of Jamaa Islamiya and has, along withother top leaders of this group, sworn allegiance to Al-Qaeda to combat the West in the War on Terror.
Brian Fishman at CTC West Point states:
Al-Hakaymah recently joined Al-Qa’ida and seems to aspire to be its chief intelligence analyst. His report indicates that Al Qa’ida has evolved from studying U.S. security tactics and electoral politics to more sophisticated analyses of U.S. bureaucratic structure and weaknesses. Whereas security planners have tended to think of bureaucratic limitations as internal problems that may limit our ability to detect, prevent, or respond to an attack, we must now consider that Al Qa’ida will actively attempt to exploit these weaknesses. (emphasis mine ~ed)
What this simple statement means is that Al-Qaeda is studying the way the U.S government works and is using the media to influence the actions of the US through political manipulation. If they can influence electoral politics to elect sympathetic “anti-war” politicians to public office in the United States they will have won a major victory. They are actively waging a campaign of information warfare through the Internet and Main Stream Media outlets. The West needs to take appropriate action to counter this threat, it is a 21st century warfare tactic and the Jihadi’s are using it well.
The entire report in .pdf format is available for download at CTC West Point here. Bill Rogio has more information at The Fourth Rail.
